PJ’s first bicycle experience

Finding time to write

Well, today (June 10, 2015) I finished up my last continuing education class for my teacher certificate, so now I’ve got some time to devote to Bike4heck.com

Let’s start by backing up a little bit and see what changes have taken place in the past 6 months to a year. Well, a bunch of stuff happened, but this post is not about that. So let me sum it up like this: First Born (PJ) arrived in July 2014; Got a new Yuba Mundo 4.3 in February 2015; Purchased Yepp Maxi (Child Seat) last part of March, and PJ had his first ride on April 7th around the block, Then, his first family ride about a month ago and his first group ride this past Saturday. Needless to say, I’ve got some writing to be catching up on.

All Smiles Before the Ride

Lets start writing again with PJ’s first ride.

After attending San Antonio’s Siclovia on foot, Tina said go ahead and order the Yepp Maxi for the new Yuba Mundo so we wouldn’t have to experience Siclovia on foot anymore! It was fun, but not nearly as fun as on a bicycle! (we are bicycle people).

I ordered the Yepp Maxi from Yuba directly and was excited to get it installed. It went on fairly easily, but there where a few improvements that I would like to see made to the adapter that Yuba didn’t have. I’ll do a separate write up on those soon. *Stay tuned

Since I got it installed fairly easily, I decided to take PJ out for a quick ride around our neighborhood block. Tina was a little anxious about the idea, but saw that he was secure, and he was happy.

PJ was 8 Months old on his first ride and I believe he really enjoyed it.

As a male, I did have to get used to stepping over the center of the frame rather than kicking my leg over the back of the seat (because that would have caused me to Kick poor PJ in the face!)

Here you can see that he is rather close to me... it's an issue with that adapter Yuba makes. (I'm writing a blog soon about changes to that adapter).

After the ride, Tina and I were excited because he was so happy during the ride. Tina recorded a video that we will be posting up here in the blog shortly, so please check back.
